Eevee is my hefty potato of a Beaglier who ruled the house as soon as she got home. I saw her advertised on Gumtree and couldn't stop thinking about her. The fact that she had the same birthday as me sealed the deal. We road-tripped 16 hours to a farm in Toowoomba to pick her up, and the moment she hit the ground she bee-lined for us, body wiggles barely containing her excitement. I scooped her up and that was it. She decided I was hers, and I agreed without hesitation.
She is sweet. She tolerates me annoying her for photos, cuddles, and kisses constantly. She is also a complete tyrant. She grumbles like a tiny old man when I'm too slow with making her food, when I ignore her demands for a play, or when I dare to sleep past her official wake-up hour for breakfast.
Planning on enjoying your food peacefully? Fat chance, she will plant herself firmly in front of you, activate maximum puppy eyes, and stare in to your soul. Planning on denying her any food? Rookie move, a nice glob of drool hanging precariously from her chops will convince you otherwise.
Eevee sleeps frequently - an absolute couch potato. She follows me around the house with her little tappy toes and knows exactly when bedtime should start. As soon as she has her breakfast in the morning, she sends me off to work and then quickly gets comfy back in bed. Sleep time is when her inner demon comes out, eyes rolling back into her head, twitching and soft barking, snoring to her own breathy beat. A regular horror show and somehow still adorable.
Her allergy to grass doesn't deter her from wanting her daily walk. She will pull you along at a brisk pace and then do a hard-stop to hunker down for her scent-smelling time which needs to be properly respected. She chews the felt off tennis balls, dissects toys limb from limb to pull their innards out, swallows bits of fabric and leaves colourful poos in the backyard to find.
She absolutely loves going crazy in the dog park and at doggy daycare, but is very picky with her humans and it takes time before she will allow an honorary head pat. She wakes Brad up by licking his ears. She's a stubborn, bossy little soul full of love and master of the puppy eyes. Yet somehow rules the house without even trying.
